Issue #5 is dear to my heart because it deals with the very serious issue of human trafficking. Last year I went with my Pastor on a fact finding Missions trip to Belize (we were looking for ministries to partner with) and my eyes were opened to a culture where dark behavior is considered a way of life for some families - just another way for them to survive. People from Belize as well as other countries are exploiting young children and both the children and their families believe this is normal - that it's the only option. I'm 9 pages into our next book and I already see (art wise) subtle homages I've paid to Al Hartley's Archie comics from Spire and the work of Malaysian Super Cartoonist Lat. Have you ever read "Kampung Boy"? buy here or "Town Boy"? Buy Here - Wow! Lat is such a great cartoonist. I didn't set out to do a Tribute to Al and Lat but I think it just kinda happened - maybe subconsciously :) Pete is scripting a very powerful story and I can't wait until people see it! My tiny collection of Super Goof Comics. I try to get new issues every year from various dealers at HeroesCon and Baltimore Comicon. A good friend of Superstar cartoonist Don Rosa gave me a copy of Super Goof # 1 a couple of years ago in Charlotte :) Now I have 2 copies! I would love to write/draw an issue of Super Goof! Maybe one day?

I had an amazing adventure in Belize last week! Met lots of wonderful people and formed a stronger bond with some already great friends. Here are a couple of pics from last week.....one is me in front of one the Mayan ruins (which was pretty awesome - like something out of Indiana Jones) and one of a sign found on San Pedro Island - I think they sell comic books :) You should "google" Gibnut and maybe you can guess where this new character/short storyline is going.....as always tell a friend about Cody and order the first book! It's almost time to start working on the second issue......

My family has such an amazing time in Charlotte this past weekend. We are truly blessed! I met so many awesome families and I'm humbled that people really seemed to dig the paintings, drawings and good ole Cody. I want to thank Chris Giarrusso, Andy Runton and Chris Schweizer for letting me hang with them on the "Family Friendly Comics" panel - I was able to take some pretty good mental notes and I'm super-charged about creating awesome comics for all ages. I will post some pics as soon as I find the camera ;) until then please enjoy today's Con inspired Cody.....

Just a reminder that for the next couple of weeks Cody will be returning to a gag a day strip (with special guests stepping up to play:) as I work on the second wave of Cody's King. I want it to be right so I plan to take my time. I'm even contemplating full comic pages when it returns but we'll see. The Guardian will take Cody and his pals back to the "other side" as they try and capture Dru Variant....the trouble is he has already assembled an army of Skull Bunnies and kidnapped a Princess.
